An Innovative Way to Control Moderate Acne
Not exclusive to teenagers, many young adults, people in their 20's and 30's, have trouble with acne that is hard to control. We know there are many acne treatments out there for you to try and it can be overwhelming. If you have moderate acne and are uncomfortable taking antibiotics or are unhappy with your current topical treatment results, BLU-U® blue light therapy - using light without drugs or antibiotics - may be something for you to try. Ask your doctor today.
Optional Levulan® Kerastick® is applied to the affected areas, it is absorbed by the damaged cells and makes the cells extremely sensitive to light. When the skin is exposed to the blue light, this light causes reactions which destroy the bad cells.
Actinic Keratosis Treatment
Levulan® Kerastick® (aminolevulinic acid HCl) for Topical Solution, 20% plus blue light illumination using the BLU-U® Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy Illuminator (LEVULAN KERASTICK and BLU-U PDT) is indicated for the treatment of minimally to moderately thick actinic keratoses of the face or scalp.
What is BLU-U Blue Light Treatment?
The BLU-U is a unique blue light that kills the P. acnes bacteria in your skin. Treatments are simple - you sit with your face close to the light for a short time at a schedule set up by your doctor, approximately a 17-minute session about once or twice per week. The treatments may go on for five weeks or so. It's safe, it's not hot, it's not painful. After some weeks, the blue light can help control your acne.
The BLU-U blue light is available in the office of doctors who specialize in skin treatments. You can ask your doctor if your case of moderate acne is right for BLU-U blue light treatment. If you are looking for an alternative to medications or antibiotics, it might be just what you need.
Is the BLU-U a laser?
The BLU-U is not a laser. The BLU-U delivers fluorescent light scattered over a larger area. It also does not emit UV light.
How long is a BLU-U light therapy session?
The doctor will prescribe the most appropriate time frame for your acne, but typical sessions last roughly 17 minutes.
Who performs the BLU-U light therapy procedure?
A qualified healthcare professional is required to perform the procedure.
